Here is a drumroll-worthy first look at what will soon be my tiny bakery!
I’ve been in already for a few weeks with various electricians, flooring fitters, plasters, carpenters etc, but yesterday finally we cracked open the paint and started to give the place a little love. It’s still very much a mess, as you can see, but hopefully documenting the whole transformation process will be worth the effort to see my finished workshop emerging. In a month or so I hope to be able to show a very different looking space.
For the walls I really wanted to wood clad the whole room, as I wanted to feel like I was going to work in a log cabin every day. Being in a log cabin is my dream! On reflection lots of wood isn’t entirely practical though, so I have decided to compromise and the plan is to only clad half of the room, and tile the rest so that it’s nice and hygienic and easy to clean.
For my lighting I knew straight away that I wanted to use the Plumen system, as they make the world’s first attractive and well-designed low-energy bulb. Not only does it do the job, but it does it in an environmentally, award-winning way.
I’m so chuffed with even the little bits of work that we’ve done so far – I can’t wait to see how it develops over the next month.
