Stockholm, I love you

Just a tiny post today, as I wanted to say something after the shock of seeing what appeared to be a terror attack in the heart of Stockholm yesterday.

Shock is the right word in this instance, as I’ve been going to Sweden for years and never been somewhere that I felt safer. In London we’ve almost been expecting something awful to happen for a while, after the tube and bus bombings, and the much more recent Westminster bridge attack. Somehow the events that took place in Stockholm yesterday were more alarming because it’s such a placid city, and from what I have experienced, the society is so open and welcoming.

I send love to all my friends, especially those in the Stockholm area, and I hope that the city can mend without becoming closed-off after such a hideous assault. Part of my heart is always there.
